Join us for an incredible excursion in Korouoma National Park! Experience the thrilling adventure of walking in Finnish nature surrounded by snowy landscapes and frozen waterfalls! Korouoma is a 30-kilometer-long canyon, plunging up to 130 meters deep, located 110 kilometers southeast of Rovaniemi. It offers breathtaking landscapes year-round, with cliffs, rapids, and waterfalls. This nature reserve is also home to rare species and is a great naturalistic spot for hikers. During winter, the waterfalls transform into fantastic ice formations, well-known for ice climbing and highly appreciated by tourists from around the world. Your guide will lead you to Korouoma Canyon for a hike in the nature reserve. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy the incredible tranquil atmosphere of the local forests. Depending on the season, you may observe all the colors and nuances that Arctic nature offers! In the spring and summer months, Korouoma is a completely green oasis of silence, where you can fully recharge your energies. In autumn, nature displays its beauty in a truly colorful way! In Finland, we call this transition period towards the upcoming long winter "Ruska". The leaves on the trees take on the most indescribable shades of gold, orange, and red before being covered by layers upon layers of snow and ice. As you walk through the canyon, your guide will be attentive to the wildlife and flora and will teach you more about nature and your surroundings. With a bit of luck, you might even see traces left by wolves, lynxes, badgers, moose, reindeer, stoats, or Arctic hares. Refreshments and a typical Finnish grilled snack will be provided around the fire to keep your adventurous spirit high. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you how to start a fire like the natives do. No matches or lighters are needed; your guide will use flint and steel, along with natural materials that you can find in the surrounding nature (we can do this even in temperatures down to -30°C). Lunchtime is also a great time for your guide to share their passion and knowledge and answer all your questions about nature, Lapland, and life in the Arctic.
