Join us for an incredible excursion in Riisitunturi National Park! Experience the thrilling adventure of walking in Finnish nature surrounded by enchanting landscapes and snowy forests.
Riisitunturi is a national park located approximately 150 kilometers east of Rovaniemi, in a hilly area of Finnish Lapland. Riisitunturi National Park is famous for its splendid winter landscapes, perfect for photography, with majestic snow-covered trees. Thick layers of snow and ice transform fir trees into large, fluffy marshmallows, attracting tourists and photography enthusiasts alike.
You will meet the guide in the morning, and they will drive you for about 2 hours from Rovaniemi through the Arctic nature. During the journey, you can admire all the beautiful views that Lapland offers in winter. Upon arrival, it will be time for a walk of about 4 kilometers in the national park. Your guide will lead you on a hike through the national park where you can admire the beauty of Arctic nature in Finnish Lapland and have the opportunity to observe the breathtaking snow-covered trees (the snow load on an adult spruce tree can reach up to four tons), typical of Riisitunturi National Park. During this walk in the winter wonderland, the guide will introduce you to the local wildlife and teach you more about nature and your surroundings. Refreshments and a typical Finnish lunch will be provided around an open fire to keep you warm. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you how to start a fire using traditional methods. No matches or lighters are needed; the guide will use flint and steel, along with natural materials that you can find in the surrounding nature (we can do this even in temperatures down to -30°C). Lunchtime is also a great time for your guide to share their passion and knowledge and answer all your questions about nature, Lapland, and life in the Arctic. The excursion lasts about 8.5 hours, including transportation, the hike, and social time around the fire. You will be back in Rovaniemi around 5:00 PM.
